Employment agreements

Find out about the types of employment agreements used at Victoria and download current versions of collective agreements and general terms and conditions.

Everyone working at Victoria must have a written employment agreement, or have accepted in writing, a letter of offer before they start work.

For adjuncts, interns, visiting scholars and volunteers see temporary appointments (unpaid) below.

Collective employment agreements

New staff who are members of the Tertiary Education Union (TEU) or Public Service Association (PSA); and whose work is covered by a current Collective Agreement (CA) will be covered by the terms and conditions contained in that agreement.

Individual employment agreements

New staff who are not members of the TEU or PSA can be employed on General Terms and Conditions (GTC) relevant to their role or on an Individual Employment Agreement (IEA). You can only offer the standard GTCs and IEAs using the appropriate templates. Confirm with your HR contact which agreement should be offered.

Accessing the template letters and agreements

The template letters and agreements have been prepared for you to use when hiring staff, and have been written to reflect Victoria’s legal obligations. They should not be altered without discussing any proposed changes with your HR contact.

If there are any special conditions of employment have these approved by your manager in consultation with your HR contact.

For letter templates that are not accessible on this page you will need to request access to the secure offer letters folder on a separate drive. To request access you need to email contacthr@vuw.ac.nz.
